December 2019

Shoot out

Join us on 8 December for a pre-Christmas shoot out on the South Bank. We’ll meet at Embankment tube at 3pm and stick around ’til around 6pm. There’s the river, winter market with plenty of festive food, drink and fairy lights to capture. We can also try out some long exposures of the Thames and beautifully lit buildings and bridges.

Dress up warm and don’t forget your tripod and timer cable.

After shooting there’s an optional Christmas drink for those who’d like to join us.

Here are a few resources on night photography, long exposures and light trails if you haven’t done this before, or want to brush up on your settings ahead of time:

Club meeting

Our last club meeting of the year will take place at Lordship Hub on 11 December from 7pm.

Look ahead to January

On the 11 January we’re trying something new, with an introduction to studio photography. And on the 12 we have an informal shoot out to capture the wassailing in Lordship Rec.

For more information on these events, check our Facebook page, where you can also connect with other members, ask for advice and share your tips and photos.

October 2019

Shoot-out

Join us on Saturday, 5 October for our monthly shoot-out. We’re meeting at Bromley-by-Bow station at 11am for a leisurely six mile walk back to Tottenham along the river Lea.

There is plenty of variety along the way as we pass by the Olympic Village, trendy new riverside cafes, lots of street art and graffiti, Hackney Marshes, Middlesex filter beds, Walthamstow Marshes and Springfield Marina.

We’re anticipating a mixture of weather, making for interesting skies and a chance to test your manual settings after last month’s camera basics talk!

If six miles feels too much, you’ll be able leave at the four mile point, Lea Bridge Station for trains back to Meridian Water, Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale.

Annual General Meeting, 9 Oct

The following Wednesday, 9 October is our second club Annual General Meeting. Don’t worry it’ll only last about 30 minutes while we go over the formalities of reporting and elections! Then we’ll follow with our usual sharing and discussion of members’ photos from the shoot-out and this month’s theme – Night and Day.

Agenda
1. Chair’s report
2. Treasurer’s report
3. Secretary’s report
Vote on officer positions.

If you’d like to stand as Chair, Treasurer or Secretary, please drop us a line prior to the meeting – tottenhamphotography@gmail.com

Camera Basics

This coming Friday (6 Sep 2019) we have a FREE talk about getting to grips with your camera, led by professional photographer Andrew Jackson. If you don’t know your f stop from your ISO, or want to know more about shutter speed, white balance or composition, this is the session for you.

Andrew will help demystify all the basics of your camera – so bring it along with you to get practical help and advice. We’re not camera snobs: phones, point and shoots, SLRs and everything in between are very welcome!

Join us at Lordship Hub from 7-9pm.
